Rural communities largely depend on natural resources for the basic amenities of life. APWDO, being engaged with the communities at grass root level over a long period of time, understands the basic foundations of economic growth at local level and possesses sound expertise to propose community-based solutions for green development for sustainable economic growth.  

The UN SDG “Decent Work and Economic Growth” calls for establishing conditions that will help create more employment opportunities and which in turn will increase people’s purchasing power and their standards of living. Similarly, the national policy and strategy documents establish the potential of yielding gains by virtue of fundamental infrastructure investments. Despite significant challenges, Afghanistan has made tremendous strides in the economic arena, yet the current state is a far cry from the targets set.

Since the basic social contract underlying the democratic societies is that all must have their share in the progress therefore, it is imperative that community must be involved in the economic growth which will, in turn, contribute to rural development.
