WHO WE ARE

The Afghan Paramount Welfare & Development Organization (APWDO) is a national non-governmental organization established in 2008 by Afghans and formally registered with the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in 2010. For over a decade, APWDO has been dedicated to providing humanitarian support to Afghanistan’s most vulnerable communities, based on the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and Afghan sociocultural values. Our work encompasses emergency humanitarian assistance and long-term development initiatives, with a special emphasis on women’s empowerment as a cornerstone of sustainable development.

History

Since its inception in 2008, APWDO has evolved from a grassroots initiative into a trusted partner for international donors, government bodies, and local communities. Our journey began with a commitment to address the urgent needs of Afghanistan’s vulnerable populations, and has grown into a comprehensive organization implementing over 10+ humanitarian projects and community development initiatives. Key milestones include our registration with the MoEc in 2010, expanding our operations to 31 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces, and successfully integrating women’s empowerment into all our programs. We have consistently prioritized community-driven interventions, ensuring that our projects are responsive to local needs and backed by evidence gathered through close consultations with local communities and institutions.
