Walid Ahmad – Humanitarian Coordinator / Program Manager

Walid Ahmad, born in 1991, is a seasoned development and humanitarian professional with over 15 years of dedicated experience in program development and project management. A graduate of Abdul Hadi Dawi High School and holder of a BBA from Rana University, Walid is fluent in English and holds a TOEFL score of 105. His career spans senior managerial roles across both the private and non-governmental sectors in Afghanistan.

Walid has successfully designed and led the implementation of over 50 development and emergency projects across all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, with a cumulative portfolio exceeding USD 15 million. His leadership has been instrumental in sectors such as humanitarian response, resilience building, youth and women empowerment, and peace and conflict resolution. Walid has worked with prominent Afghan NGOs including APWDO, OMEED, and AGENDA, delivering impactful programs funded by international donors such as UNDP, UNOPS, USAID, and the U.S. Department of State.

Currently serving as Program Development Manager at APWDO for over seven years, Walid is a skilled proposal and concept note developer, strategic communicator, and organizational representative to donors. His efforts have positively impacted hundreds of vulnerable men, women, children, and persons with disabilities across Afghanistan. Deeply familiar with the Afghan context, Walid continues to play a vital role in advancing community development and humanitarian resilience.

A results-driven leader, Walid is known for his ability to build strong donor relations, navigate complex operating environments, and develop responsive, high-impact solutions in times of crisis. His deep understanding of local dynamics, coupled with a strong command of compliance and reporting standards, makes him an invaluable asset to APWDO aiming to create sustainable change in Afghanistan.
